Why Not to Use Nofollow Links When Linking to Inner Pages?

PageRank, when comes to Search Engine Optimization is always the top scorer of all the search ranking factors. Google allots a fixed number of points (scores) to a web page that are then divided equally among the remaining pages that are linked from that main page.

Let's assume, Google has assigned our page 100 points and the website contains 5 innerpages which are linked from that page i.e., 5 hyperlinks. Now, these 5 pages will gain 20 points each from Google. If two of these pages are hyper-linked using the rel=nofollow attribute, then Google will give 20 points each for the remaining 3 pages and the 2 pages that are linked using nofollow tag will not be given any points. According this calculation, the balance 40 points (100 – 20*3) are gone wasted.

Wondering whether to use the nofollow attribute in your internal links or not? Google’s webmaster site recommends the use of nofollow in some scenarios:

Search engine robots can’t sign in or register as a member on your forum, so there’s no reason to invite Googlebot to follow “register here” or “sign in” links. Using nofollow on these links enables Googlebot to crawl other pages you’d prefer to see in Google’s index.

Matt Cutts who is said to be Google Engineer however suggested completely different from this stand.

Matt has advised that webmasters shouldn't use rel=nofollow attribute when linking to any of their internal pages even if they decided not to see those internal pages in search engine results.



There is no special reason shared by him to prove his statement, but, as a webmaster, we should always say "no to nofollow" on internal links.

How to type Indian Rupee Symbol in MS-Word Using Keyboard? DownloadRupee Font

After the Official Symbol for the Indian Rupee was finalized by the Union Cabinet, every one in the country were curious about "How to Type Indian Rupee Symbol in Computer using MS-Word?". So i thought of sharing this small tutorial on writing INR Rupee Symbol using computer keyboard.



The symbol of Indian Rupee doesn’t have a Unicode character and it can take from a few days to a year for the new symbol to get accepted by the Unicode Consortium's Unicode Technical Committee that is responsible for the development and maintenance of the Unicode Standard, including the Unicode Character Database.

Until then, you can use the Indian Rupee font designed by Foradian Technologies using (`) key of the keyboard.



How to install Rupee font?

1. Download the Rupee.tff file
2. Copy the file to C:\Windows\Fonts directory.(for Windows XP users)
2. Right-click the file and choose “Install”. (for Windows 7/Vista users)

NOTE: As all the computers all not having this font installed, It is advised not to use this font in your documents such as MS-Word and other applications. Because, when you open such a document on another computer the viewer will not be able to see the symbol as the font is not installed on his computer. The Rupee font is strictly for designing purposes.

Foradian Technologies has also released Vector, EPS, Photoshop and Illustrator files for the Rupee symbol which are free to use.

Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Beta: Microsoft recently announced the expected release of Microsoft Windows 7 SP1 public Beta Version at the World Wide Partner Conference 2010 held in Washington. At the same time, Microsoft also announced the Free download of Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.

Windows 7 SP1 beta covers the security faults found in the previous version and the only new feature added to Windows 7 Service Pack 1 beta is the compatibility with USB 3.0.

Note: USB 3.0 support is just a rumor, and not confirmed officially yet.

2. Click Start menu -> Select "Run" & type "gpedit.msc".
3. Double click "Windows Settings" under "Computer Configuration" and Double click again on "Shutdown" in the right window.
4. A new window appears, click "add", "Browse", locate your "ntosboot.bat" file that you have created in the Step 1 & click "Open".
5. Click "OK", "Apply" & "OK" once again to exit.
6. select "Run" from the Start menu & type "devmgmt.msc".
7. Double click on "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers"
8. Right click on "Primary IDE Channel" and select "Properties".
9. Select the "Advanced Settings" tab then on the device 0 or 1 that doesn't have 'device type' greyed out select 'none' instead of 'autodetect' & click "OK".
10. Right click on "Secondary IDE channel", select "Properties" and repeat step 9.
11. Restart your computer to save the changes.

Google Chrome Upstaged Apple Safari by 1.5%

StatCounter has revealed the figures stating that Google Chrome has upstaged Apple Safari as the third most used Internet browser in the United States. Aodhan Cullen, StatCounter chief executive said that this was a major boost for Google as they have come up from nothing and occupied 10% of the US Internet browser market in just three years. He also added that Google and Apple are involved in a very tight competition in the Internet browser (Chrome v/s Safari) and the smart phone (iPhone v/s Android) areas.

According to the stats, Chrome has occupied 8.97 % of the US browser market in the week that ended on June 27, upstaging Apple’s Safari, which had a share of 8.88 % market. Apple Safari had lead Google Chrome by 1.5 % only two months ago.

At the same time, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer topped the charts, occupying an impressive 52 percent of the total market space and the free, opensource Mozilla Firefox followed IE with a total of 28.48 %.
