How to Change Registered Owner in Windows XP/7?

Generally, Windows users would like to change the registered owner name for many reasons. And this quick tip will let you update your name with the registered owner name (if it's not you).

  1. Go to Start >> Run >> Type "regedit.exe" without the quotes to open the registry editor.
  2. Navigate to
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
  3. Next, click on the options that says "RegisteredOwner" and "RegisteredOrganization" and then change the value to whatever you require (Ex:your name).

That's it! You've successfully changed the registered owner name of your computer from somebody else name to yours.

This tip works for both Windows XP as well as Windows 7.
