Linux Mint 11 "Katya" RC is Available for Download

Linux Mint 11 (also codenamed as Katya) has been recently released. This new Linux Mint 11 is based on Ubuntu 11.04 OS which was released during the last week of April.

The Linux Mint 11 will still use the GNOME 2 because GNOME 3 has some compatibility issues which need to be solved. Linux Mint 11 RC uses Linux 2.6.38 and Xorg 7.6.

New features in Linux Mint 11 includes a Software manager and an Update manager which are very useful for the Linux users.

An exciting feature in the new Linux Mint 11 is that the users of the 32-bit software build can install both the stable as well as the unstable build and can easily switch between them.

An important change is that the most popular open-source application "OpenOffice" is replaced with the "LibreOffice".

There are still some minor problems which will be sorted out by the end of this month and a complete (99.99%) error free Linux Mint 11 final build will be released then.

If you wanted to try out the new Linux Mint 11 RC, then use the mirrors for download.
