Useful Search Optimization Tips for Images

Image Search Engine OptimizationGoogle, no doubt, is the most traffic driving (referring) search engine for any blog or website. Apart from regular search engine results, Google also indexes the Images hosted in our website. We could make use of this indexing to get extra visits from Google Image search.

So here I would like to list the useful SEO tips for Images.

  1. Try to place your Images at the top position letting users to notice them without having to scroll down. Search engines love websites that are user friendly.

  2. Specifying the height and width for an image will help the web browser to render pages even before the images are loaded. This will also help to improve page load time.

  3. Make a separate lading page for each image thus allowing it have a title description and caption. This will help to improve bounce rate as the user doesn't leave the page even clicking on the Images (Can be done using CMS like Wordpress etc..)

  4. If you've an article related to the Image, try to link the image to that article using a proper keyword as the anchor text (alt tag)

  5. Check whether you images are being used on other websites or blogs (copied), because Google will only display single image and sometimes you may miss the chance even though you're the actual owner. Try to contact the author who copied your image and make it removed ASAP.
A Perfect SEO optimized Image tag should look like this.
<a href="http://www.example.com/puppy.html"><img src="http://www.example.com/images/puppy.jpg" alt="Dalmatian puppy playing fetch" width="500" height="180" /></a>
These tips will surely help your Images to rank better in Google Image search results.
