Search Engine Reputation Management, which in short is called as SERM is a very blooming career with many people paying pretty high to save their Online Reputation (ORM). Mainly the branded companies are worried about their company reputation when some wicked minded people (competitors) try to spoil their reputation or social image by writing distracting reviews or posting abusive pictures about the companies or persons.
Let's see how to push negative results away from the user sight.
I've done this for a client whose company is reviewed badly in an article and unfortunately ranking top causing his company a bad reputation. The immediate step I took to throw that particular result away from the top SERPs is - Promoting the websites that have good reviews about my client's company using link building and social media. I've also done some guest posts about the company and promoted them. Just after 3 days, the negative review (post) have been pushed to the 4th page making it tough to be viewable by the user as most users click on the first few page results.
The client was very happy with the outcome and had referred me to a few other clients :).
So, the main important thing you need to do in online reputation management is, save the reputation of your client by eliminating the results with wrong or abusive reviews so that people can't find those in the top search engine results.
Note: This process is not the same in all the instances. It changes according to the clients problem. The process I've followed above is for a client who wants to remove bad reviews about his company from the Search Results. There are some instances where we need to follow different strategies.
