Tips to Improve/Increase Battery Life on Android Phones

Improve Battery Life on Android PhonesDay by day, Android phones are becoming popular and almost everyone is choosing to buy an android mobile over other mobiles. Apart from the advantages of Android OS, the worst part is its poor battery life. So, here we’re discussing about the ways to improve android phones battery life irrespective of their specifications.

Note: Remember that there isn't a single android phone that gives you ample battery life.

Stop Synchronizing:

Everyone loves social networking sites like Facebook. Synchronizing those sites with the mobile will help to get instant notifications on our phone. But, synchronizing consumes a lot of battery and so its better to turn of the sync when not required. It helps to reduce load on your battery, thus letting it stay longer.

Stop Using 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS when the Signal is Low:

Whenever you’re in a remote area where the signal strength of your service provider is weak (low), try to turn off 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS and stick to EDGE if necessary. Because using these features when the signal is low will make your mobile to switch between different modes which will actually cause your battery to get drained tremendously. You can even switch to GSM/WCDMA only mode to avoid this problem.

Turn Off Automatic Brightness:

The Display is undoubtedly the best part of any android phone, but auto brightness will actually set your phone display at 75-80% brightness which will actually consume a lot of battery. In reality, 30% is enough for Indoors while 50% is sufficient for Outdoors.

So try to turn off automatic brightness and manually reduce the brightness until you find it comfortable to see.

Disable Live Wallpapers:

After the Froyo update came out, Live wallpapers have come into existence on Android phones. Though they look colorful and rich, they will make your phone last at least 2-3 hours lesser on every recharge because the Live wallpapers will continue to run(consume the battery) even when the phone is locked. So, try to avoid using the Live wallpics.

Remove Unnecessary Widgets from the Home Screen:

Just like the wallpaper, the home screen widgets will also require some memory to run, especially the 3D widgets that use the Internet. So try to remove the widgets that are unnecessary and keep the ones that are really needed. In such situation, increase their refresh duration.

Use Automatic Task Killer App:

TaskPanel XTRA is a free android app that automatically closes apps so that they don’t come up and ruin your battery unnecessarily. Using this app will definitely help to improve your battery life.

Use JuiceDefender Android App:

It is another good battery management application which automatically manages your n/w mode, Wi-Fi, Internet and GPS. This app helps in optimizing your battery power with specific set of applications, that too only when required, thus saving your mobile battery life. {Juice Defender}

An additional note for heavy phone users is – try to keep an additional (extra) battery while in traveling to distant places as Android phones are meant to consume a lot of battery due to the processors and applications they support.

Hope these few tips will help you increase/improve the battery of your Android phone. Do let us know if you know any tweaks other than these.
