Extend Battery Life of Your Digital Cameras

We're now living in the era of Digital cameras with the electronic markets flooding with enormous number of digi-cams with latest technology. I'm sure you're one of the many Digital camera users who take photography as a profession or a hobby. If you're the one who uses the Digital camera at remote areas where there is no means of electricity for charging your battery, you might find this article useful as we're talking about how to save and enhance battery life of your Digital camera.

Tips for Improving Camera Battery Life

Tips for Improving Digital Camera's Battery Life

  1. First of all, remember to buy genuine batteries with large capacity. Don't go for grey market stuff as those batteries might damage your camera's life.

  2. Turning the cam on & off will have huge impact on the battery life. So, avoid doing so.

  3. If your camera comes with "Auto power saving" mode, then turning it on when you're not using it for a while will save you a lot of battery.

  4. Flash is not required in all situations. Its better to keep Flash in Auto mode as the camera can itself decide when to use the Flash.

  5. Battery life will become shorter if used in cold climates. So, always try to keep your digital camera warm as much as possible. Wrap it in a woolen cloth when (not) in use, to keep it warmer.

  6. Most of us press the shutter button half-way down in case if we don't intend to take a photo. Doing so will consume huge battery power as some internal processes will be executed when we pressed it half-way down.

  7. Use the view finder instead of the LCD screen as it'll give you the real view of the object that you're clicking. It will also help you to bring down the battery consumption to a great extent.

  8. Think of the resolution of the picture that you're going to click as the resolution will have impact on your battery consumption. The lesser is always better.

  9. Try to minimize the use of Zoom option as the motor which zooms in/out the lens consumes more battery power. Use it wisely.

  10. Don't try to erase the captured images directly from the camera dashboard. Connect it to a computer and then remove those unwanted pictures.

  11. Keep your Digital camera in charging while transferring photos between the device and your computer as the download process will consume more battery power.

  12. Although not all, a few Digital cameras are well-known to drain your battery even when the cam is turned-off. So, its better to remove and keep-aside the batteries when you're not using it.
(Exceptional)
  1. Most of us will have the habit of previewing pictures after we capture them. I know it's tough, but avoiding it will have huge impact on the battery life of your digital camera.

Stolen Camera Finder Helps Find Your Stolen Digital Camera

Find Stolen Digital CameraIs your camera stolen by someone? Find out who has stolen your camera using the web technology. Though it might not work in some situations where the stolen thief has some techno skills and has managed to change the EXIF data that is by default stored in a picture, but in most cases you can find it easily. The EXIF data originally contains a unique serial number which identifies your digital camera.

Stolen Camera Finder is a web application that does the magic. Simply input a picture taken by your digital camera (pic taken before the camera is lost). The tool will automatically check for the images online that contain the same serial number (which implies that the images are taken using your camera by the person who has stolen it).

You can also input your serial number (if you knew it) and search the database to find your camera. If you can't find any results immediately, simply subscribe to the missing camera report so that you can receive an email notification once they succeeded to find any photo that contains your camera's serial number.

You can alternatively use the Exif Viewer to check your serial number.

Note: This is possible only in cases where the person who has stolen your camera is used to the Internet and uploads the photos to his/her online profiles (Flickr, Blog, etc...)
