Read the full review to know why I loved this mobile.
Lenovo Vibe K5 Unboxing & Review
The Lenovo Vibe K5 is actually a optimized version of the Vibe K5 Plus, which was released a month prior to the earlier. The major differences between Vibe K5 & K5 Plus is the Display and Processor. While the K5 Plus has Full HD display, the K5 has HD IPS display. While the K5 is powered by Snapdragon 415 octa core processor, the K5 Plus is powered by Snapdragon 616 quad core processor. Except these two, all the other specifications are same for both the devices.
The first thing I liked about this device is the display screen size. It sports a 5 inch HD IPS capacitive display. The colors and viewing angles are very good. You can clearly see the labels of the apps from almost all the angles without any issue. You also get a screen protector free along with the handset, but I’d suggest to purchase a tempered glass for extra protection.
The handset comes with a premium aluminum casing which is very strong and gives the phone a premium feeling. It is available in Silver, Grey and Gold variants. I personally liked the Grey variant.
No issues faced with the auto-brightness feature. It is getting activated almost instantly with the surrounding lighting conditions.
Processor & Memory
The Lenovo Vibe K5 is powered by the new gen 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 415 Octa core processor, combined with 2GB of RAM. There is no issues faced while using multiple applications in the background. The free RAM memory on the first boot is 1.2GB. The mobile is using the RAM very efficiently so that you don’t face any lag while shuffling between different apps.
You also get an internal memory of 16GB. However, only 9.5GB is available for use on the first boot. There are a lot of bloatware apps on this device such as Amazon, Evernote, Gamestore, McAfee, Shareit, Skype, Tap the Frog and WeChat. Luckily, there is an option to uninstall the bloatware apps and save memory. You can also expand the memory up to 32GB using a microSD card.
The devices runs on Android v5.1 Lollipop OS and on the top is the Vibe UI. The navigation is pretty easy and straightforward.
There is a 13MP primary camera with auto focus and LED flash on the rear and a 5MP front facing camera for selfies. The camera is quality is excellent for this price range. In fact, if you’re looking for a mobile with better picture quality at this budget, then the Lenovo Vibe K5 is for you. There are a lot of filters for every need. Just choose the one that suits your requirement and get the best output.
I’ve played the Asphalt 8 on the Vibe K5 and the game played in high quality mode with minor lags. When I switched to the medium quality mode, there is no lag and it played really well. Thanks to the Dolby Audio speakers, the sound quality is awesome.
I’ve been using this mobile as my primary device and getting up to 6 hours on moderate usage (calls, browsing and occasional gaming). If you’re a light user, you’ll definitely get a full working day. Surprisingly, there is not much heat even after playing the games continuously for 30 minutes. The highest I’ve encountered was 40 degrees. The device is optimized well to make full use of the 2750 mAh battery.
The Lenovo Vibe K5 supports dual SIM cards (micro) and both supports 4G LTE connectivity. So, this can also be listed in the best 4G phones under 10k price. The connectivity options include Bluetooth v4.1, GPS, WiFi, 3.5mm Jack and microUSB v2.0. And yes, the phone supports OTG pen drive.
Lenovo Vibe K5 Review: Final Verdict
At this price point, you also get the Coolpad Note 3 Lite and Redmi 2S Prime, both are the best sellers under 7000 at this moment. The Vibe K5 is superior to the Redmi 2S prime, but lacks a few features that the Note 3 Lite offers, which include Fingerprint Sensor and 3GB RAM. If you’ve no issue with branding (it matters when it comes to aftersales support), then go ahead with Coolpad Note 3 Lite. Else, the Vibe K5 is for you. Both the mobiles offer great features at less price.
I’ve found this Vibe K5 mobile very user friendly and hence I bought this for my dad who don’t need the fingerprint sensor and extra RAM. So, if you’ve similar requirement, then the K5 is for you.
Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (fingerprint sensor & headphones missing)
